The Sucker solves the problem of having to drill holes in tiles, glass or any other smooth surface. Its beauty lies in its simplicity and the experience of attaching it to the wall: it literally sucks itself onto the surface.

about the designer

Jan Hoekstra & Leon Ramakers

Jan Hoekstra was born in Maastricht, the Netherlands, in 1964 and graduated from Design Academy in Genk, Belgium in 1989. In 1990 he entered FLEX/theINNOVATIONLAB where he got involved in the design and development of consumer products. In 1997 he started working in a design consulting capacity for Unilever and RoyalVKB and teaching at the Design Academy Eindhoven. In 2003 he established Jan Hoekstra Industrial Design and ever since has been working on projects for Droog, RoyalVKB, Van Esch and other Dutch brands.

Hoekstra’s aim, not to design something more than the very minimum necessary, is always mixed with a handful of smart thinking. His designs try to turn our everyday tasks into everyday pleasure. Several of his products are in permanent collection of Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, MoMA New York and Chicago Museum of Architecture and Design.
